I am finally here ! Japan has occupied the #1 spot on my “places to visit” for about the last 10 years & I finally made it.

It took a total of 27.5 hours of travel time since leaving my house to get to my final destination here at the ANA Hotel in Kyoto Japan. The hotel is super-plush, and the internet is included, so that is a huge plus. I think I will skip the $50.00 morning breakfast buffet though !  I did not get to see many sites on either of the trains we took to get here though, as it was only light for a few hours after I met up with Derek.

We decided to go out for a late dinner after checking in, but not much was open that late. We decided to go to a place that reminded me of a Japanese waffle house, open 24/7 serving popular Japanese dishes instead of waffles. It was affordable & tasty. and I got to order from a push button machine LOL.

We then ventured out to find a place to get a few beers. However, much to our dismay, it did not appear that any of the bars allowed “gaijins” (foreigners). We asked around and finally found an “American Dart Bar” which allowed us to come in and partake. We had a good time throwing darts and drinking a few beers. We crashed around 3:30 am after making it back to the hotel via taxi.

Hopefully we can find a few more “gaijin-friendly” bars. We are heading to check out the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Castle, as well as other cultural sites today. Should be a good time, so check back for more pics and updates.
